Derrick Henry Brings Speed & Power

Garrett Gambill is a medical assistant at Advanced Dermatology & Skin Cancer Associates in Memphis, TN, and has career aspirations in the sports medicine field. Garrett Gambill follows the Tennessee Titans, who benefit from Derrick Henry, one of the NFL's most potent running threats.

At 270 pounds, Henry brings sheer force, as well as speed, to an explosive running game that centers on taking on mismatched defenders and creating maximum yardage. This ability was on display in Week 2 of the 2021 season, when Henry sparked a 15 point comeback against the Seahawks in Seattle with a 60-yard sprint for a touchdown.

With less than 13 minutes left in the game, the Titans faced a daunting 30-16 deficit and a demoralized squad. The Seahawks had just struck a decisive blow with a 68-yard deep connect from quarterback Russell Wilson to Freddie Swain, resulting in seven quick points. Facing an extremely aggressive Seattle defensive line, Henry threaded the needle inside, finding a gap as opponent Jamal Adams overcommitted to shutting movement off the ball.

Once he broke free, Henry found the edge and put on a speed that comfortably outpaced the nearest backfield defenders. The 182 yards Derrick Henry achieved on 35 carries, with three touchdowns and six receptions, and 55 receiving yards, earned him AFC Offensive Player of the Week distinction.
